Rhombus Required Network Settings

If you maintain a locked down network, you'll need to configure your firewall with the following rules for the cameras to function properly.

Outbound firewall rules:

  • HTTPS/443
  • UDP/53 – DNS
  • NTP/123 – NTP Time Sync

Furthermore, if accessing cameras over a LAN, you need to ensure you have routes setup to the camera local subnets from the subnets where they need to be viewed on the LAN.

Intranet firewall rules/Routes:

TCP/8000 for LAN subnets,,

We also suggest whitelisting the following URL's if your firewall is really restrictive about the network traffic.

  • *.rhombussystems.com
  • *.lan.rhombussystems.com
  • *.dash.rhombussystems.com

If you're using a firewall, you cannot man-in-the-middle (MITM) Rhombus network traffic as the cameras will detect this activity and stop the connection.
